Starting Pre-School

What to wear

As we like to explore and experiment with all kinds of materials including messy ones, it is best to send your child dressed in clothes that are easy to wash and not too new. It is good for children to practice the skills that make them independent. Simple clothing which they can handle themselves will enable the to go to the toilet when they want to and to put on and take off their outdoor clothes without being too dependent on other peoples help.

Please ensure that your child has a coat and hat with them on all but the hottest of days and a sun hat and sun cream on sunny days. Your child’s outdoor shoes should provide adequate protection for outdoor play and please supply daps for your child to change into.

We now have items of clothing available for sale with the Little Cuckoos logo, available to order here.

Our policy statements are available to anyone who wishes to see them. All of our policies are designed to offer the best possible experience for the children and families in the group. Our policies are reviewed on a regular basis and suggestions from parents are always welcome.

Special Needs

The number of adults present in the Pre-school enables us to provide individual attention for each child. Each child is able to progress at his/her rate in all areas of development. We operate in accordance with the government’s Code of Practice on special educational needs.

If you would like to discuss the group’s ability to meet your own child’s special needs please feel free to talk to Hayley or Vi, our Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator (SENCO).
